Her birthplace was and brought up in Spalding in Saskatchewan before moving to Alberta in Canada after which she graduated from her high school. She became interested in acting in her teens. To get further training in acting she went to the National Theatre School of Montreal. Later she also attended an acting class at the Moscow Theatre School.
