Meredith Salenger
Salenger has been raised and lived in Malibu. She loved performing for friends and family as an infant. The mother of her child took her to her first class in acting when she was 8 years old. Her first acting role was a small part as an 'orphan who sings and dances' in the feature film Annie written by John Huston. Salenger also did a number of television advertisements. Salenger was the first actress to play the lead part in The Journey of Natty Gann which was an iconic Disney movie that starred John Cusack with Ray Wise. The film was the first US film to receive the Gold Award from the Moscow Film Festival. In addition, the film won her "Best actor in a drama" in the Youth in Film Awards for her portrayal of the tomboyish Natty Gann. In the following four films before she was 18 years old, including A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon and A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon, she quit Hollywood in order to attend Harvard to continue her education.
